The past is an open book here in Charleston: with many sites to visit: plantations, museums, old forts, the slave market, and historic downtown Charleston where you walk through structures as they were 300 years ago. There are tours of the graveyards, horse and carriage tours, and tours by boat around the harbour and to Fort Sumpter where the first shot of the civil war was heard.
Charleston is also modern as it inconspicuously contains within the historic architecture modern facilities: I-Max, the Aquarium, the Library.
Entertainment possibilities are limitless with many musical venues throughout the city and special events: Spoleto, Piccolo, Cajun Festival, the Blues Bash, Taste of Charleston, Wildlife Expo, Moja Festival...and the list continues.
And after all the site seeing, come home to a quiet backyard, with lots of Decks.

Directions
To reach the Decks House, Charleston, SC: Coming from West, take I-26-E (until it "ends") (If coming from East take I-17-S across Ravennel Bridge)
Continue on I-17-S (towards Savannah) and make a left on to Lockwood Ave/I-30-W Connector. Follow signs: "to Folly Beach & James Island."
When Connector I-30-W ends at Folly Rd, Make a left (South towards Folly Beach) Pass one light, for approx. 1/8 mile on to, left at Patterson Ave. Continue to "Decks" House at 1546 Patterson Avenue.
